BE DEEP… like the Mediterranean sea!
Be full of mysteries and secrets that are well preserved in the abyss of the depths, only to be protected as all beauty and life form should be. With the words that will follow, I will take you with me to discover what lies under the surface…not only under the surface of the Mediterranean Sea…but under the surface of human beings as well…are you ready?
Take a deep breath and…LET’ S DIVE!
The Mediterranean Sea is home to an incredible variety of marine life, many of which have adapted to its unique conditions, exactly like us, humans.
We vary but we still don’ t seem to accept that and we crave an unnatural conformity. Still, we try to survive and adapt in this world in which we live but with no claws, no venom, no super strength, just with a brain and…one heart. Only ONE heart.
You see, OCTOPUSES have three of them! Yes, three hearts. Not to love thrice as hard as humans, since no one can feel stronger than us, they have three because one heart pumps blood to the rest of the body while the other two pump blood to the gills!
However, when an octopus is swimming, the two hearts responsible for gill circulation stop beating, which is one reason why octopuses prefer crawling over swimming. Swimming is a lot more taxing on them! Which brings us to our first human analogy…some humans too prefer “crawling”, since it is undoubtedly easier than struggling against the odds, against the tides, against one’ s own self. “Crawling” is undoubtedly easier than growing strength and keep moving to get higher and higher in life.
Do you see what lies within all that sea algae and marine plants? It is a seahorse!
Not a thing to ride but definetely an animal that can teach us something. In the seahorse world, it’s the male that gets pregnant. The female deposits her eggs into a pouch on the male’s belly where he fertilizes them and carries them until they hatch.
Nature shows in mysterious ways the equality between genders but also how important it is for the creation of life that the couple carries the burdens together, shifts responsibilities and leverages the liabilities towards the same goal of reproduction, breaking the stereotypes of gender roles and keeping the focus on the creation.
Shhh..don’ t disturb it. The parrot fish is sleeping… they sleep wrapped up in a cocoon of their own mucus!
They secrete a slimy bubble that surrounds them during sleep, which is thought to protect them from parasites and mask their scent from predators. Just like you my fellow friend…creating your own little safety bubble to hide your fragile self from the cruel and harsh world that wants you to necessarily participate and possibly win a rat race structured to be unbeatable.
Don’ t forget that the predators are out there and that to actually get a safe and sound goodnight sleep, you need to get out of your bubble and fight for a more just, fair, safe and peaceful world. You are not alone, we can do it together, exactly like we took this dive together!
