The Mediterranean monk seal is critically endangered, with fewer than 700 individuals left. They live in isolated caves along remote coastlines and are rarely seen by humans.
Like the monk seals, who cling to survival in their shriniking habitats, there are few people who truly grasp the urgency of preserving the irreplaceable.
